On Demand Group (ODG), the leading European video-on-demand (VOD) aggregator has launched a premium TV subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) to subscribers to Cablevision, Mexico’s leading cable provider.
The new service will enable Cablevision subscribers to view a wide selection of their favourite premium TV series and children’s programmes, blockbuster studio and independent movies and the latest music videos, with the ability to pause, rewind or watch the programme of their choice over again – whenever they want.
The launch adds to the transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) service for the latest movies that ODG launched with Cablevision and that was announced in October this year. Cablevision’s VOD services are delivered on a platform of SeaChange video back office software and video servers.
ODG specialize in the aggregation, content and service management of VOD services and are expert at working with operators and implementing marketing campaigns aimed at maximizing TVOD buying rates and SVOD subscribers and view rates. ODG have successfully managed VOD and pay Per View (PPV) services for major cable and telco operators including Virgin Media in the UK, SFR in France, KBW and Unity Media in Germany, OTE in Greece, and du in Dubai. The company also launched the first mobile SVOD TV services with 3UK. The service launch will mark the extension of ODG’s reach to 20 platforms in 14 countries handling one billion video on demand transactions per year in 10 different languages.
Cablevision is the largest Digital Multi System Operator in Mexico and is part of Grupo Televisa, the largest Spanish-spoken communication enterprise in Mexico. Cablevision successfully launched VOD and Catch-Up services in 2010, and is the leader in triple play entertainment and communication services and in providing the latest convergent technology solutions.
"We are very pleased to have launched premium TV SVOD services with Cablevision," said Tony Kelly, CEO of ODG. "SVOD has been proven to be a key added value consumer offer that when added to broadcast and catch-up TV services, allows Cablevision to offer the consumer a total TV experience. In addition when bundled with triple-play offers, SVOD can help acquire subscribers, raise ARPU, and decrease churn. This launch further demonstrates our ability to provide compelling TV-on-demand services, and we expect to be able to announce further deals with other operators in Latin America over the coming months".
