Three-screen video-on-demand enabler ODG announced a range of major milestones at the IPTV World Forum, revealing the rise of high-quality on-demand content services across Europe.
Video-on-Demand (VOD) Growth Forecast To Continue
According to Screen Digest, households viewing TV VOD services in Europe have grown to 58.5 million, up 22% from 47.8 million in 2007, and are forecast to grow to 92 million by 2014.
On Demand Group Continues Fast Growth
- On Demand Group has capitalized on the growth of advanced television services in Europe announcing eight new deals over the last 12 months to supply video-on-demand services. The Company now publishes and manages content for 12 platforms in 9 territories, in 6 languages, covering 10 million VOD households, and 100 million mobile phones.
- On Demand Group is now handling 80 million VOD transactions per month and this year will pass 1 billion transactions. Total annual views increased by 49% from 516.8 million in 2008 to 768.8 million in 2009, making it the biggest VOD aggregator in Europe.

- Further, On Demand Group turnover has grown by over 40 percent in the last year.

Efficient Content Processing
- Over 250,000 content assets were processed through On Demand Group’s bespoke Content Factory in the last 12 months in SD, HD, Flash, WMV and other file formats.
- 100,000 pieces of metadata were created in multiple languages.
- 2,000 market-specific promotions are produced in house per year.
First Mobile TV SVOD Service launched in Europe
- On Demand Group and 3UK recently announced Europe’s first mobile subscription VOD (SVOD) TV service with content from a variety of suppliers including major Hollywood studios such as Warner TV and Disney. The number of content owners working with On Demand Group in the mobile and broadband mobile space is set to expand further in the coming months to meet the increasing consumer demand and the expanding development of on-demand long-form content in this fast growing sector.
- On Demand Group is now driving multi-screen video delivery across TV, PC, and mobile and expects to launch the first integrated three-screen services in the third quarter of 2010.
