ODG actively invests in joint ventures and uses its market knowledge and operating expertise to provide profitable and sustainable market solutions with a major speed to market benefit in the development and implementation of VOD, SVOD, IPTV and PPV services.
On Demand Deutschland
ODG formed On Demand Deutschland (ODD) as a joint venture with Tele Munchen Gruppe (TMG),with aims to accelerate the growth of pay-per-view and video-on-demand in Germany and other German speaking areas. TMG is a fully integrated media corporation, which is able to exploit all audio-visual rights through its own distribution channels. Its activities include movie production and distribution in the theatrical, video, broadcasting and merchandising sectors.
The opportunity for the JV is to establish interactive TV services with major operators in Germany, Austria and Switzerland which include more than 45 million German-speaking television households, the vast majority of which are not yet using digital subscription services. The ODD business has grown rapidly with the PPV services for Unity Media and VOD services for KBW, 2 of Germany’s leading cable companies, and the VOD and SVOD service for Telekom Austria that ODD operates now reaching a total of over 2 million households.

FilmFlex
To introduce VOD into the UK, ODG approached Sony Pictures and Walt Disney to join forces and create a dedicated movie service. FilmFlex launched at the end of 2004, with supporting EU approval, and aired on the ntl and Telewest networks in January 2005. The business grew profitably securing content from all major Hollywood suppliers and the service continues to operate successfully on what became in January 2007, the Virgin Media VOD platform in the UK. In January 2008 ODG announced the sale of the stake in FilmFlex to Sony Pictures Television International and Walt Disney Television International.

Front Row
The Front Row PPV service was launched in 1998. ODG presented the business plan to the UK's cable companies (there were ten back in 1997), and pioneered the launch of PPV and NVOD over UK cable. The challenge with Front Row was to build a profitable PPV Movie service across a fragmented cable network to compete with satellite PPV services. The service grew profitably to be the biggest PPV movie service outside of the USA with industry leading buy rates.
We devised and implemented a corporate structure, bringing all the UK cable companies together to form Front Row. These eventually consolidated into ntl and Telewest.
